Nothing sounds better than salmon tartare on a sunny summer day. This light and delicious dish is not only easy to make, but it will be sure to impress your friends and family with its sophisticated and clean presentation. I learnt this recipe from my mother, who is also my biggest inspiration when it comes to food. I thought that paying tribute to my inspiration would be the ideal way to begin this journey of sharing several of my favorite dishes with all of you!
- 2 salmon fillet (fresh from the fish market)
- 1 or 2 green onions depending on their size
- 1 tbsp of capers
- 1 tbsp of dijon mustard
- Juice of half a lemon
- 2 tbsp of olive oil
- Tabasco sauce (add as much as you like)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Ensure that your salmon fillet has had its skin removed. Chop the salmon finely into small cubes
- Finely chop your green onion(s)
- Roughly chop the capers
- Add your chopped salmon, shallot and capers into a bowl
- Add the rest of the ingredients including the dijon mustard, lemon juice, tabasco sauce, olive oil, salt and pepper
- Stir all of the ingredients together
- Place the tartare in ramekins. Place the ramekin upside down on a dish and release the tartare slowly in order to achieve the desired shape.
